Virtual Field Trip Labs:

Book a Eugene Science Center educator to visit your online classroom.

Virtual Labs include a 30 minute live presentation to your online classroom, with real time engagement with your students. A pre-recorded video can be made available upon request when live presentations are not possible.

We are currently offering three virtual field trip lab themes, and are able to design labs to cover other STEM topics upon request.

Option 1: Kitchen Chemistry

Fizz, pop, bang! Your students can follow along at home as a STEM educator guides you through a set of chemistry experiments. Students will explore acid-base reactions, fermentation, and catalysts using commonly found kitchen ingredients.

A materials list will be provided in advance so families or classroom teachers can gather necessary materials ahead of time. For an added fee, we can prepare materials kits for each student.

Recommended for 2nd-5th grade.

Option 2: Storybook STEM

Science and engineering can be found in any story! Join us for an exploration of some popular and lesser known stories and discover how characters use STEM to solve problems. Follow along from home with  hands on challenges, including activities like designing a boat to help Max from Where the Wild Things Are, testing which sweets would make a good cabin for Hansel and Gretel, and more!

A materials list will be provided in advance so families or classroom teachers can gather necessary materials ahead of time. For an added fee, we can prepare materials kits for each student.

Recommended for PreK-2nd grade

Option 3: Animal Adaptations

Meet Eugene Science Center’s animal ambassadors in a live presentation. Learn about the unique adaptations our bearded dragon, ball python, tarantula, and leaf insects use to survive, and compare the types of habitats they would need in the wild. This lab does not require additional materials to participate.

Recommended for K-5th Grade
